Riolite Vini: Over 1,000 Labels Telling Stories of Wine, Territory, and Identity
Since 2019, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside Riolite Vini, a unique and dynamic presence in the Italian wine industry. Riolite is not a traditional winery — it’s a consulting company specialized in wine marketing, branding, and international distribution, developing private label wines and brand-driven projects for a wide range of global markets.
Founded by Matteo Bernabei, Riolite stems from a deep passion for wine and a long family tradition in viticulture. The name itself comes from rhyax (Greek for “flow”) and lithos (“rock”), referring to rhyolite, the pale volcanic rock typical of the Colli Euganei. It’s a symbol of transparency and origin — the values that define the company’s philosophy and approach.

A Visual Journey Shaped by Trust and Creativity
Over the years, this ongoing collaboration has led us to develop more than 110 product lines and create over 1,000 unique labels, covering a wide array of stylistic, strategic, and market needs.
With Riolite, every label becomes an opportunity to build a visual story — not just a piece of packaging, but a strategic tool for branding and communication. From naming to storytelling, from design systems to production oversight, our work covers every aspect of the visual identity of a wine.

Designing for Global Markets
Thanks to Riolite’s strong focus on exports, we’ve had the opportunity to design labels for a variety of international audiences — from North America to Asia and across Europe. This has sharpened our ability to craft visual languages tailored to different market sensibilities, while maintaining brand coherence and design integrity.
Through this global perspective, we’ve expanded our expertise in wine packaging, turning each project into a dialogue between territory, product, and visual culture.
Collaborating with Franco Bernabei
Among the highlights of our work with Riolite are several projects developed in collaboration with Franco Bernabei, one of Italy’s most renowned enologists. His technical knowledge and vision brought further depth to the design process, reinforcing the vital connection between the substance inside the bottle and the story told outside.

An Award-Winning Label
Our label design for Chianti DOCG Corte al Passo — created for Riolite — was awarded the Silver Award at the Indigo Design Awards 2020, in the Packaging Design category. That year, the competition received thousands of submissions from over 20 countries, and only 81 projects were selected.
